Vernissage and expert discussion on the Concrete Prize 2025 at the FH OST in Rapperswil

Experts met at the OST University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil for the opening and panel discussion of the Concrete Prize 2025.

The focus was on the winning infrastructure construction project: the new bridges between Bondo and Promontogno in Bregaglia. After the natural disaster in 2017, debris flows destroyed bridges, roads and buildings. The reconstruction therefore required far more than just a replacement. It demanded a precise response to the location, landscape and technical requirements.

The new structures blend naturally into the valley. Exposed concrete, river stones and clear geometries characterize the project. The bridges appear calm, robust and elegant at the same time. Prestressed frame bridges with slender cross-sections reduce the use of materials and meet the highest technical requirements. The uppermost bridge is particularly impressive. It replaces the former historical connection and impresses with its complex, asymmetrical geometry. Here, the art of engineering, materiality and a keen sense of the landscape combine to form a convincing unit.

The project is an example of what infrastructure construction can achieve. It protects, connects and shapes at the same time. The Bondo bridges thus stand for resilience and aesthetics. They are built for the future.
